I should be available to run some DDM events on January 16th, 2010.  Who will be available?

Ok, so the wretched event didn't go over as good as I wanted it to.

I'd like to try something new.... who would be up for a 1000 point tournament?

Who would like to try a 50 point tournament?

Who would like to try a 300 point tournament?

Please reply here!

Some votes have gone to the following:

The usual suspects:

  •                 200 point standard assault
  •                 200 point standard arena
  •                 200 point sealed limited

Some new prospects

                300 point standard assault

                750 point assault

                Another wretched

                50 point assault

  • 200 point limited draft
  • team tournament

I  will be there for the Jan 16th event.  I would like to see another wretched tournament.  300 Points would be an interesting change.  Them maybe a 750 tournament.

BTW, yesterday's event was great!  I for one had a seriously good time.  Thanks!

i liked the wretched event, it was fun.  This past tournament in general was alot of fun (so close to beating craig ;) ) even the purple disco ball was ok.

I too, would like to see another wretched event, a 300 & maybe a 750, but I personally don't think I'd do so hot yet in a 1000.  50 point could be fun, if you limit the minis to a min of 3 so we don't have people with just 1 strong mini.  ocre jelly will get some real play.

No beholder_ultimate_tyrant

  1. 200 point limited draft team tournament
  2. 750 point assault
  3. 300 point standard assault

We cannot restict the use of the Beholder Ultimate Tyrant, but we can make a gentleman's agreement.

Of course I thought we had an agreement for the 500pt and we saw how that turned out.  It might be a bit different in the 750 point, but I really doubt it.  I'll have to test and see.

I'd like to find out how many of you would be interested in a retro-tile placement game of D&D Miniatures.  If we have enough players that have sets of tiles we could run a 200 point standard assault with tiles.

I'd have to take a look at the rules, but I don't think there would be much to modify from the origina.

200 point, 10 figure limit

3 tiles and 1 starting tile on blank or we could try on maps that already have terrain.

Anyone interested?

yeah, I have 2-3 maps with terrain i believe, a decent number of tiles, and then I have a blank gray map, although it is meant for the StarWars minis game.  this is a cool idea.

I'm down for the 750 and the 200 point sealed. Really I could go for any of the point scales. I enjoy the game. Wretched would be okay as well. I think I have a score to settle in that particular paradigm. And the 50 point has my interest as well.

I doubt we will have boosters to run a 200 point sealed tournament.  I'l check with Battleworks.

I was also thinking of a low-level battle, like a 200 point assault with an unlimited # of figures, but no figure costing more than 25 pts.

The next D&D Miniatures game day will be January 16th

http://www.gulfcoastgamersclub.com/index.php/component/ccboard/view-postlist/forum-35-january-16-2010/topic-23-dad-miniatures-events

Using my voting system at http://examples.xocomp.net/iaa/survey/DDMsurvey.aspx? The results look like http://examples.xocomp.net/iaa/survey/DDMsurvey_Says.aspx

So, I’m going to make a call now in advance for the tournament formats:

  1. We will have a 200 point standard assault tournament
  2. We will have a 500 point standard assault tournament with a twist
    1. You can win by eliminating all but 1 enemy – that enemy surrenders
    2. This will prevent Beholder Ultimate Tyrant warbands because if the BUT is alive and everything else is dead that player surrenders
    3. We will have a special 200 point standard assault tournament
      1. 12 figure limit
      2. 200 point limit
      3. Still needs to meet faction requirements and alignment requirements
      4. 32 point maximum single figure cost ( I’m trying to see some new stated figures from the early sets)
      5. At least 125 points must come from a common theme (keyword is an example theme)

                                                               i.      Some sample themed warbands by racial keyword

  1. Most gnolls
  2. Most demons
  3. Most elves
  4. Most dwarves
  5. Most drow
  6. Most undead

ii.      Some example mixed but still with a theme

  1. A party of fighter, rogue, wizard, cleric, with other character classes
  2. All divine, all martial, all arcane
  3. Because of the forced theme, these are disallowed

                                                               i.      the witchknife’s power, you can run a witchknife but he can’t use his power to stun a keyword

ii.      No powers that target an enemy keyword

  1. No bonus against evil
  2. No bonus against faction
  3. No bonus against keyword (race or type)

iii.      Useful keyword ally bonuses still apply

Manny, formats look great, particularly the 200pt theme.

Maybe next time we can look at doing a 250pt team event with 2 people bringing 250 pt warbands, limit 5 figures to combine for a 500pt team.  Something like that.

Anyway, I sent you an e-mail, just let me know...

Derek

First tournament had 4 players and John won with his spider hoards, black dragon lurker, and scarrow.

2nd tournament had 6 players and ended with 3 players going 2-1.  Sherry, Ray, and Archie.

We gave away about 6 boosters and some extra minis that players brought.

See you at CoastCon!
